This is my old Air Compressor which I have repaired. My dad has cast a new crank pin bearing, bored it out, bored the piston bearings out and made a new pin for the piston to suit the new bearings I have replaced the piston rings, honed the cylinder, checked all the other parts, bushed the piston bearings and put it back together. The motor is 4HP 3-phase. Run from a 3-phase inverter on 240 volts. At the end of the video when the compressor starts under load, you can see how the motor quite easily turns the compressor. I can't turn it by hand even on that large flywheel. 1st time I tried the compressor with the relief valve on, the key fell out of the flywheel, it spun its self off the shaft and went rolling off down the workshop. Shame I didn't have my camera recording at that moment.

I bought this 5hp, 150PSI, 20 gallon Craftsman Professional compressor on Friday (2/13) from a concrete construction company for $26. One guy said it wouldn't start at all, and two other guys said it would start, fill the tank, and die. We had always wanted to get one of these so we can use air tools up in the woods where the tractors are. I figured if the engine was shot, I had the exact same Honda GC160 laying on a shelf doing nothing I could pull off all the parts I might need. Take a look and see what happens...

I got another Briggs and Stratton engine at the Stanton Trade days that I was able to use the fuel system from to fix the air compressor. Also, the air compressor engine had seized somehow but I took the head off and was able to get it going by lubricating the piston and valves with PB blaster penetrating oil.
